Photographing an LGBTQ+ Engagement Session at Lighthouse Park

As a photographer, every session brings its own unique magic, and photographing Gary and Jeremy’s (AKA Garemy’s) engagement photos at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver was no exception. This location is a dream—rugged cliffs, towering evergreens, and breathtaking ocean views set the stage for an unforgettable engagement session.

Justina has known Gary since high school and we’ve met before, but I had the pleasure of meeting Jeremy for the first time in person at this engagement session! Gary and Jeremy were so comfortable and in sync with one another, which made capturing their love a joy. We started the session by wandering through the forested trails, where golden sunlight filtered through the trees, casting a soft, romantic glow. Their laughter echoed in the stillness of the woods, creating a sense of intimacy and warmth that translated beautifully into their photos.

Making our way to the rocky shoreline

As we made our way to the rocky shoreline, the iconic lighthouse came into view, standing tall against the backdrop of the expansive ocean. This spot is pure magic, and it provided the perfect setting to showcase their bond. One of my favourite moments was capturing them holding hands on the edge of the cliffs, with waves crashing dramatically behind them—a stunning visual that felt like a metaphor for their strength and love.

Photographing queer love stories has always been incredibly meaningful to me. Every couple has their own unique dynamic, and I’m always honoured to help celebrate that in a way that feels authentic and beautiful. With Gary and Jeremy, it was about capturing the small, tender moments—the way they looked at each other, the laughter they shared, and the joy they brought to each other’s lives.

Why we love Lighthouse Park for Engagements

Lighthouse Park was the perfect setting for their engagement session. Its natural beauty and dramatic landscapes added a sense of grandeur to their story while still allowing their connection to take centre stage. For anyone considering this location for their own engagement session, I highly recommend it. It’s a place where love feels amplified by the beauty of nature, and the photo opportunities are endless.

Gary and Jeremy, thank you for letting me be part of your journey. Your love is inspiring, and capturing it in such an incredible location was an absolute honour. Stay tuned for a post featuring their wedding photos as well as their wedding highlight film!
