Getting those Spring Vibes for these Engagement Photos

First off, we must admit that these are not Spring Engagement Photos, but this sunny day in the middle of winter is definitely giving off some strong spring vibes!

We met Andrea and Ross at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver on, what seemed to be, the busiest day of the year. It was Family Day long weekend here in BC and the parking lot was absolutely CRAZY! We’d originally planned to meet a week later, but the weather wasn’t looking too good so we reschedule their engagement photos to this Spring-ish looking day.

Spring Engagement Photos in your own private meadow!

Our session started off along one of the many trails in Lighthouse Park. With its vast trail system, it’s really easy to get lost, but luckily, we know this place quite well. We took A&R to a “secret spot” with its own private meadow up on a hill, which overlooked the forest. After taking in the views and warming up in front of the camera, they did a quick outfit change before heading off for some coastal views.

Golden Hour Spring Engagement Photos

After meandering through the forest, we made it to the cliffs just in time for golden hour. The beauty of having engagement photos in the spring is that the sun still remains relatively low throughout the day and we’re graced with amazing golden light earlier in the day. As mentioned at the being of this post, there was some bad weather coming in over the next few days. Our session started off with clear blue skies, but the wind was gradually bringing in more and more cloud coverage. We did, however, manage to get a sliver of a clearing in the sky to get some AMAZING golden light shining through.

Sticking around for Blue Hour

As the sun disappeared behind the clouds and over the horizon, we decided to stick around for some blue hour photos. These engagement photos were done in late winter/early spring so as soon as that sun set, the temperatures dropped way down with it. It was SO cold, but Andrea and Ross braved the temperatures just to get these shots. We love blue hour because it gives the skies this amazing pink hue and we can often capture the flickering city lights in the distance.

As the light faded, we finished up our session on the cliffs and tried our best to warm up again. The hike back to the car was super easy, albeit a bit dark, but it was ok because we there was a big group of us!

Andrea and Ross, thank you so much for being flexible with your schedules! We couldn’t have asked for a better day to do your engagement photos and we cannot wait to see you two again for your wedding!
